THE OPPORTUNITY
Danone's dairy-free brand, So Delcious, a legacy in the plant-based industry, is expanding its vegan cheese range to meet the surging mainstream demand for plant-based alternatives.

OUR WORK

We experimented with various vegetable protein powders and fats in the benchtop process to replicate the taste of real cheese, incorporating buttery notes. Through microbial fermentation with coconut milk, we developed a 100% vegan-friendly cheese made from coconut oil, potato protein, starches, and natural flavorings that shreds and melts like traditional cheese.

THE RESULT

So Delicious introduced the shredded cheese 2017 to capitalize on the significant growth in the category, accelerated by the shift away from traditional dairy. The products are currently accessible nationwide at major retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Whole Foods.
